Personal Hardship Letter

To whomsoever it may concern

My current situation made me write to you. I and my husband are customers of your bank. This is with regard to the loan disbursement we took last year. Till now we have paid the first six monthly installments on time. Now due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances, I and my husband have decided to part ways.

We are going through the legal procedures to attain divorce. Originally, we have planned to pay the installments of the loan with the combined income. However, I have contributed to the monthly loan installment until now. The mortgage is in my name and I take up the liability. I will be the person responsible if delinquency occurs.

I request the bank authorities to give me time to recuperate from the present situation. Lots of things have to be sorted out. I cannot disclose the exact time but I feel at this point of time, one year will be sufficient for me to look for alternatives.

I shall be grateful if the bank can grant me permission to pay the principal amount installments from next year onwards. I can pay the interest part as of now without fail. However, I would request the bank management to give some discount on the rate of interest. I hope to overcome all my problems within due course of time.

Yours Sincerely
