I was so glad upon receiving your letter yesterday inviting me to the special dinner you will be holding to mark your retirement from your work. Thank you so much for inviting me to come. It would be my honor to attend the dinner event as one of your friends.
It is heart-warming to know that you still remember me although we have not seen each other for a long time now. I guess this only goes to show how memorable the time we spent as close friends when we were still in college was. I value those moments we have shared too and I oftentimes recall the happy memories with a smile. It is wonderful to know that you are still so healthy despite having reached retirement age. I have also heard that you have received recognition from your company for being an excellent employee. Congratulations!
