Jennifer Fox worked as the operations manager in our hotel in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles for two years. She was hired at a time when the economy was in recession and our occupancy rate was abysmally low. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about hiring her in such difficult times as she had no prior experience in handling large teams. However, my concerns, to my delight, were proven groundless.
She arranged a meeting of all the employees on joining and asked them to speak up about the deficiencies and offer suggestions to improve business. She compiled a report of the meeting with her recommendations. After obtaining my approval, she initiated multiple changes in the hotel.
She made alterations in the restaurant menu, changes in the décor, introduced discount offers for customers and monthly incentives for employees. A hotel that was in the red turned out a profit within eight months of Jennifer taking over as the operations manager.
