When writing a sales letter you ought to keep in mind that most prospective clients will only give your letter a glance at best. Many people do not have the time or patience to read through a long letter describing a product or service which they have been doing without in the past. An effective sales letter will attract and hold the reader’s attention within the first sentence or paragraph. You should therefore strive to make your first sentence and paragraph as captivating as you can.

Introduce the company and a brief history in a few short sentences. In the second paragraph, introduce the product or service you are selling and how it would benefit your prospective client. Do not make unrealistic promises. Stick to the facts. In the final paragraph, give your details e.g. website or email address, so that your client can find out more about your offer.
